So I grew up in south Louisiana in a very small town. In school, I was always the kid that was different. I was never into cliques, the latest fads etc and always walked to my own beat.
As a child, I went through traumas and difficulties. I always turned to the arts to escape. I excelled in band and I started writing poetry and other creative writings ( that I still do write now)
Photography was something that I always loved. My father (technically my step father) was an Army trained photographer and I learned how to love the art of photography from him and always wanted to formally learn.
A lot of people describe me as being both left and right brained because I also love studying the sciences. In my 20’s, I decided that I wanted life-long stability and went to college to become a RN. I graduated in 2002 and I love being a nurse.
Fast forward to around Oct. ’16, when I had a conversation with someone regarding their talent with shooting pics. It reminded me that it was something that I always wanted to learn myself “ONE DAY”. This convo stayed on my mind for a while and I ended up buying my first “real” camera on Jan 1 ’17 and signed up for a “hobby type” photography class at a local college. I loved it so much that I became a NYIP student because I wanted to learn even more.
Early on, I started getting requests for professional shoots, winning online contests/awards and getting recognition, despite my lack of knowledge. I graduated from the NYIP in 2018.
This all eventually led me to form a DBA. I continued to get more recognition and winning more awards and even a local contests. In addition, I started getting recognized by a lot of very experienced artists and photographers and well known people in my community.
In keeping with my pattern of “following this journey to wherever it leads me”, I recently formed a formal LLC and will be selling my work online and as a vendor in local markets.
Thanks for your support and joining me on my journey! All of your support means everything to me!
