Snow in South Louisiana: Unexpected Lessons

A blizzard warning in south Louisiana. I am still trying to wrap my head around it!!

Here are some things I have learned and/or observed

  1. Your water pipes can freeze even if you have a brick house on a slab.
  2. Having a good neighbor, that is a retired plumber, is everything!
  3. Do not use pepperoni for your snowman’s eyes
  4. Squirrels love to steal pepperoni
  5. My dog loved the snow.
  6. Trudging through 6-10 inches of snow, with camera gear, is one hell of a work out.
  7. You have never lived until you’ve seen Rob Perillo make a snow angel on live T
  8. It is impossible to pack/build up powder soft snow. You have to wet it first.
  9. Canoes, kayaks, wake boards make great sleds.
  10. It is possible to get tired of eating gumbo.
  11. Air boats go over snow and ice.
  12. John Deer tractor and gold carts are great for pulling snow skiers and sleds
  13. Snow Angels are fun to make!
  14. Putting Way Mart grocery bags over your shoes keeps your feet dry.
  15. Snow spreads joy and love and brings our Cajun community together!

It was amazing to see how the snow brought everyone together. It was a beautiful beautiful thing. Many families now have lifelong memories. When these kids grow up, they can tell their kids and grand kids about the historical day.

Here is a slide show of the images I took in Washington…..

I hope all of you had fun!!

Peace & Love
