“Hanky Panky”

Last year, I planted some giant yellow sunflowers, along with some rare ruby and chocolate varieties. The giant ones came up great and had beautiful solid yellow sunflowers.

However, the chocolates and the ruby s, which are shorter than the giants, never germinated.

After the flowers ran it s course last year, I pulled them up and honestly forgot all about that flower bed

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a tall sunflower coming up . At the time, I had not planted any new sunflowers this year so it was a “surprise” It is a very tall sunflower with a lot of buds on it. I was even more shocked when they started opening!

Some of the flowers are very unusual and have ruby and/or deep chocolate colors in them , while others are just solid yellow!

That means that there was some hanky panky going on, right under my nose, in my own yard!!! You “gotta” watch those sunflowers ya ll!!!! 🙂

Since that tall one came up, I ve noticed other new flowers growing up too. I am very anxious to see what they will look like. I hadn’t planned on planting new seeds this year but I felt motivated to do so after seeing these unexpected ones. So, yesterday, I threw in a variety of sunflower seeds in there again…so we ll see what happens…

Stay tuned…
