Cemetery Hunts & Mr Pajama Pants

So, I set off on a solo trip to Galveston Texas for the first visit there ever. Just like many of the other places I visit, I had absolutely no clue as to where I was going or what I was getting myself into.

In any case, there were many things that I did while I was there but the main thing was exploring cemeteries and finding out about the history of the island. It is full of history and is very interesting to say the least.

The Municipal Cemetery was the first cemetery I went too. I was not able to get much history on it but it is very old. Sadly, the graves have not held up very well. There are a couple of more cemeteries near it that are better kept up. I did not go into the well kept ones because, well, they were too well kept and just didn’t call out to me.

Here are few of my shots of the Municipal:

The day after I went to Municipal, I woke up super early, before traffic, to go shoot something unique for my gay friends. In the downtown area, they have a couple of rainbow crosswalks. It was there that I ran into Mr Pajama Pants for the first time.

As I was shooting, I saw this dude walking around down there kind of watching me from the side. He was wearing flannel pajama bottoms and a t-shirt. It was a hot humid Texas Aug. morning and homeboy was walking around in flannel pjs?!

No words were exchanged between us but I watched him closely since we were the only people out there. He disappeared off to wherever he went and I continued on my way.

Fast forward to about 7 hours later. I decided to go the City Cemetery. A local told me that if I go there alone, I would need to be “on alert” When I got out there , there were a few people out there so I felt ok.

So I started looking around and shooting. Then, I noticed a person walking through the cemetery. Guess who it was? No other than Mr Pajama Pants himself–in the SAME pair of flannel pajamas. I know that dude had to have been hot. Anyway, I watched him closely again and kept looking back to see where he was going. The last time I looked, he had just disappeared. I had no idea of where he went too.

I went back to exploring and shooting. About 20 minutes later, I was shooting a statue. As I was focusing, all of a sudden, out of no where, Mr Pajama Pants comes into my field of view. This time, he was carrying what looked like a plastic shopping bag with a plate lunch in it. Who walks around the cemetery in pajama pants carrying a plate lunch?

He was walking past my car and when he looked up and saw me. I think he must have thought I was trying to get a picture of him. He stopped and turned around and started walking the other way. I was thinking that I needed to watch him “in case” and he was probably thinking, “who is this crazy purple haired lady I keep running into?” Here is a pic of him, near my car, but I covered up his face in Photoshop.

I watched him walk out the cemetery the other way and then I decided that I needed to leave.

After I got back to my hotel, I booked a cemetery tour so I could go back feeling more safe.

Thankfully, when I went back for the tour, he was not there and I never saw him again. I have a feeling he was equally as happy to not run into me again too.

The tour was awesome and the tour guide, Mrs Annette, was very knowledgeable on the history. I was amazed to find out that Galveston is basically 1 large cemetery, some areas 3 levels deep, with a beach front.

City Cemetery is just one of several cemeteries on Broadway Street. There are several more that are neighboring it. The cemetery is known to be haunted and there are a lot of very fascinating stories behind them.

There is no need for me to repeat the stories when you can find them online already. Just google it. You an also see You Tube videos as well. He is a link to the company I took the tour with and you can read about some of it s history https://ghostcitytours.com/galveston/haunted-galveston/old-city-cemetery/

Did I see anything or have any experiences? I did not see anything but I did feel some things for sure. When I was sitting on curb facing a grave, I felt like there was someone standing behind me but there wasn’t anyone there. The grave was of the first person buried there, a child named Albert. Per Annette, he is known to be seen playing in the cemetery at night. She has seen him before. Notice, at the top of his tombstone, there is a lamb there but the heads broke off. I found out that lambs were placed on graves of children that are 6 years old or younger. Mrs Annette told me what all the symbols on all the graves meant.

As we were walking around, I had moments of feeling very nauseous and short of breathe. There is a lot of very strong energy there–LOTS.

We walked to one particular grave and before Mrs Annette starting telling me about it, I immediately felt a surge of energy and I got nauseous and had like a tingling feeling. Annette told me a lot of people actually feel like they get physically touched standing near the grave. One night, Annette’s purse was pulled on–her whole tour group saw her bag being pulled by someone that was not there.

This is the grave and you can read all about it in the link I posted above.

I enjoyed my time in the cemeteries and the other places I explored. I will definitely be going back. There is a lot of history in the city and I want to learn more about it and see the places I was not able to get too.

If you are into visiting haunted places, this is a must see city for you! Just watch out for Mr Pajama Pants!

Till next time…
